The Hotel Grand Pacific is the first, and only, Five Star full-service hotel in Victoria under the Canada Select program. Canada Select describes Five Star properties as luxurious properties that are "among the very best in the country in terms of their outstanding facilities, guest services and quality provided".
In 2001 the hotel underwent a multi-million dollar reconstruction, adding a new wing and public areas to its original 148-room complex that opened in 1989.
